When our clients made the decision to leave Toronto and settle closer to family in the suburbs, they knew exactly what they wanted: a quiet, established neighbourhood and an older home with good bones that they could thoughtfully renovate to make it their own. Their wish list was clear: quality, timeless character, and smart functionality that would make a small home feel intentionally designed just for them. What they needed was a design partner who could unlock the home’s potential, which is where Erin Interiors came in.
From the start of this home renovation, the goal wasn’t simply to update finishes. It was to craft a cohesive, beautiful, and highly functional home that honoured the couple’s love for traditional design while supporting how they live day to day.
The project included a full renovation of both the main floor and the basement, with every surface reimagined. New flooring, doors, windows, casings, baseboards, hardware, paint, furnishings, and cabinetry were selected to create a clean, seamless transition from room to room.
The spaces included: the entryway, family room, kitchen, powder room, office, primary bedroom, ensuite, primary closet, basement laundry room, basement bedroom and a shared bathroom.
Our design team developed drawings, including floor plans and cabinetry elevations, sourced every finish and furniture piece, and managed the full home renovation from early concept to final decor and styling.
The original layout posed the project’s biggest challenge: tight rooms, awkward flow, and an entryway that just wasn’t working.
To solve this, we reimagined the main floor from the ground up.
A new front entry door created a more natural point of arrival, instantly improving flow. We relocated the staircase off the side entry, freeing up precious square footage and unlocking the opportunity to rethink the entire kitchen, dining, and family room arrangement.
The result is a light, open-concept main floor that feels connected rather than compartmentalized. Every zone now functions intuitively, with sightlines and flow that bring calm to daily routines.

When we walked our clients through the finished space, their reaction said it all. They were in love, and in a little disbelief that this was now their home. They shared with us that the transformation was something they could never have achieved on their own, and that the finished result exceeded every expectation they had when they first stepped through the door.
These moments are why we do what we do!
