Styling Your Home from Winter to Spring

As we move through the seasons, refreshing simple accents in the home can give you just the refresh you need. Spring is about light, freshness and colour. Sometimes tulips from the local grocery store just isn’t enough to offset some of the ‘winter’ décor that might be still lying around the house.

  1. GREENS AND LEMONS

Seems simple, right? It doesn’t have to be over-thought or complicated. Sometimes simple items from your local grocery store will do just the trick. Branches and whimsy greens have become quite popular in décor. Adding these to simple white or coloured vases, will bring the current season into your home. My favourite is the eucalyptus branch. Position this beside a fresh bowl of lemons and you just quickly added some colour to your home.

  1. FRESHEN UP YOUR TOSS CUSHIONS

Time to remove the heavy velvets, fur or darker tones that have been living on your sofa. They are perfectly cozy for those winter months but lightening the feel will refresh the look of the whole room. For spring, choose toss cushions that are a ‘linen’ look in terms of texture and look for some brighter options that work with your space. If you want to go the extra mile, small furniture pieces like ottomans and light-weight throws will also bring you into the season.

  1. SPRING SCENTS

This is a big one for me. Candles or diffusers are always running in my house all year round. Changing up the scent is an obvious shift for spring. I love the options at Sage Wellness and the candles available at Indigo. It’s uplifting and sets the mood in the house.

  1. REFRESH YOUR ACCESSORIES

You don’t have to redo everything but pulling out some accessories on your bookshelves and replacing them with fresh objects is a quick and easy way to give the space a lift.

  1. CHANGE YOUR ARTWORK

Large or small, additions of ‘fresh’ art will give the room a lift. Consider abstract or florals in lighter, fresher tones. If you have expensive art, focus on the small frames you might have around the house. Update those with family photos taken in the summer or replace with a simple fresh print from etsy.com.
